About Miro Pogran

Miro Pogran, born 1964, Bratislava. He workes and lives in the Czech Republic.
He is an academic painter, graphic designer, and illustrator.

He attended the Secondary School of Applied Arts in Bratislava (SUPŠ). He then went to Prague, where he studied animated art at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design (Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design), led by Professor Miloslav Jágra.

He uses different techniques in his work. He uses oil, draws crayon, draws on lithography. His interests focused primarily on Jewish themes. He performed at exhibitions at the Jewish Museum in Prague and Bratislava.

The year 2000 was invited to participate in the Contemporary Slovakian Illustration Show in Norway and Iceland. Since then, his work has also regularly appeared at the I colori del sacro exhibitions in Padua, Italy.

He also exhibited in the German cities of Hannover, Cologne or Berlin, in the Czech Republic at the František Drtikol Gallery, the Pearl Gallery, the Jewish Museum in Prague, the DNM Gallery and others.

Another important step in his work was an invitation to introduce his work to exhibitions in Japan. Gradually, he exhibited in cities such as Nagano, Shizuoka, Fujieda and Kakegawa. Together in this distant landscape, the artist spent several months. In addition to exhibiting paintings, he also worked with Kazumu Nakano ceramics. This cooperation resulted in a set of painted ceramic bowls. Japan has penetrated to the heart of Miro Pogan, so after returning to the Czech Republic there are many themes and motifs related to the country of the rising sun. The Haiku exhibition in the garden of Sošinte on the "Japanese" farm in Nedrahovice proved this.
